Unleash Your Mindset: Finding Success

“What are the three things that most people want?”

This was a question posed by Business Agility Executive Coach, and Strategic Advisor, Jordi Falguera in his recent webinar hosted by Lithe Transformation.

In our quest for a meaningful and fulfilling life, the three things we often seek are financial security, an exciting daily routine, and the company of creatively productive individuals.

However, achieving these desires can be challenging, even for senior executives.

Whatever level you are within an organisation, despite having the best intentions, it can feel like you end up getting stuck on the hamster wheel – doing the same thing over and over again.

Renowned for his talent in inspiring individuals and organisations to achieve their fullest potential and with over a decade of experience, Jordi has played pivotal roles in numerous international transformations across 14 countries, encompassing diverse cultures and industries.

When it comes to knowing about the profound impact that mindset can have on overall success, Jordi knows a thing or two…

Having worked closely with directors and executives, Jordi possesses a unique ability to align corporate strategy with execution, enabling the successful adoption of an Agile-Lean mindset within companies.

The Importance of Changing Your Mindset

In his talk, Jordi referenced Bronnie Ware’s book, The Top Five Regrets of the Dying where one of the most important regrets that people have in their later stages of life is, “I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me”.

But what prompts us to change?

  • We change when we hurt enough that we have to

  • We change when we see enough that we are inspired to change

  • We change when we learn enough that we want to change

  • We change when we receive enough that we are able to

Your mindset is a crucial factor in determining your success in life.

Jordi, on his own quest to develop himself, explored the key dimensions of success that can help you truly achieve extraordinary results. It's essential to unleash your mindset and push beyond your limits in an honest and pragmatic way.

Trick Your Brain into Believing What You Want It to Believe

In the pursuit of personal growth and change, one of the first steps is to trick your brain into adopting a new belief system. This process is not as simple as flipping a switch but requires consistent effort and dedication. Knowing what to change is only the beginning of the process.

Mindset Redesign Framework

Jordi’s Mindset Redesign Framework encourages regular exposure to positive thoughts and empowering beliefs. We have on average 50,000 thoughts a day, some mundane and related to life admin, but others that reaffirm whether you think positively or negatively about yourself.

In order to redesign your mindset, automating the affirmation process can work well in reinforcing new habits. Whether you get daily notifications with key questions or reminders of positive affirmations, the key is to stay positive and inject that into the day-to-day.

Utilising a flashcard system like Anki can reinforce these thoughts and gradually reshape one's mindset. By nurturing positive thinking patterns, individuals can pave the way for personal growth and success.

The Power of Positive Thinking

Positive thinking can have a profound impact on an individual's outlook on life and their ability to achieve their goals. By adopting an optimistic and growth-oriented mindset, individuals are more likely to approach challenges as opportunities for learning and growth. They become more resilient in the face of adversity, enabling them to bounce back from setbacks and pursue their dreams with unwavering determination.

Know Your Worth and Own It

Imposter syndrome affects over 70% of executives, leading to self-doubt and questioning one's worth.

To overcome this common obstacle, the "ITEM" model, which stands for ‘Individual Talents that you want to Explore and Maximise’.

Using a sheet of paper, post-its or your chosen method of mapping out, ask yourself what talents you want to maximise. This way you get to choose what you want to spend your time on.

By identifying these unique talents and prioritising time for their development, individuals (no matter what organisational level they are at) can build their perceived value and boost self-confidence.

Jordi uses Bloom’s Taxonomy as a tool to help understand the takeaways from any training. This is done through 6 levels:

Remember, Understand and Apply are ‘low-order’ thinking skills. Analyse, Evaluate and Create are ‘high-value’ thinking skills. Focusing on high-value thinking skills increases our perceived value of Items, which is where we should be spending our time.

Self-Discovery and Empowerment

Knowing one's worth is a crucial aspect of personal development.

Understanding one's strengths, talents, and unique abilities empowers individuals to recognise their value and contributions. Embracing self-discovery can lead to improved self-esteem, assertiveness, and the ability to set boundaries.

Owning one's worth is a transformative step towards unleashing true potential and maximising opportunities for success.

Maximise the Elements You Want to Excel In

Continuous learning and improvement are essential for personal growth and success. Seeking help from experts or coaches to maximise potential in specific areas. Surrounding oneself with people who excel in desired fields can lead to constant improvement and inspiration. The focus should be on high-order thinking skills, such as analysis, evaluation, and creation, to enhance perceived value in front of clients and peers.

The Importance of Continuous Improvement

Success and growth are not static concepts; they are achieved through continuous improvement and adaptation.

Embracing a growth mindset allows individuals to see failure as a stepping stone rather than a stumbling block. By embracing challenges and seeking guidance from mentors or experts, individuals can stay ahead of the curve and consistently improve their skills and abilities.

Minimise Non-Value Adding Activities

Effective time management plays a crucial role in personal development and success. This includes focusing on tasks that add value to your time, not take away from it.

In Agile, there are two types of time analysis:

  • Lead Time: how long does it take from an idea to production in total?

  • Touch Time: how many times do you need to actively participate (your touch points) between idea and production?

Jordi has added another layer to this to make it more efficient.

Ignition Time

‘Ignition Time’ measures the time taken from having an idea to taking action.

Time is precious. Outsourcing non-value-adding activities can significantly reduce Ignition Time, freeing up time for high-value tasks.

The quicker your Ignition Time, the less time you will spend on non-value-adding activities.

The Rise of Time Agencies

Time is a precious commodity, time agencies, like Speedy Time Agency, offer innovative solutions to optimise productivity and personal growth.

By delegating non-core tasks to professionals, individuals can focus on high-value activities and self-improvement.

Embracing time agencies allows for better work-life balance and the opportunity to explore new ventures and passions.

An Agile Journey

“You didn’t come this far to only come this far…”

Embracing an Agile Mindset that aligns with personal goals and values is vital to living a fulfilling life.

By adopting the four dimensions of mindset transformation – tricking your brain, knowing your worth, maximising valuable elements, and minimising non-value-adding activities – individuals can unlock their true potential, achieve their dreams, and lead a purpose-driven and fruitful life.

In the pursuit of happiness and success, it is important to remember that personal growth is an ongoing journey.

Continuous learning, positive thinking, and embracing change are essential ingredients not just for a fulfilling personal life, but also a professional one.

Invest in yourself, cultivate your talents, and surround yourself with individuals who inspire and challenge you. Unleash your mindset, embrace the journey, and experience the transformative power of a growth-oriented mindset.

In the wise words of Jordi Falguera: “Unleash your mindset, unleash yourself. Boom shakalaka, let the journey begin!”
